Lok Sanjh is a non-profit, non-governmental organization working with the rural communities particularly with women farmers in Pakistan. The organisation started its work in 1996 and is registered under the societies act 1860. At present it is working in more than 130 villages in nine districts of Punjab, Kashmir and with partners in KPK, Sindh and Balochistan. The Lok Sanjh promotes strategies for socially and environmentally sound agriculture through focused research, policy advice and advocacy. It promotes networking and linkages with a wide range of institutions and individuals through seminars, workshops and exchange visits.
The organization envisions ‘an enlightened rural society, where end beneficiaries may have choices to exercise and enjoy their rights. They also have access to services without discrimination, a society where people will have freedom and dignity as well as respect for others and the environment.
Currently, the Lok Sanjh is a member of South Asia Network on Food Ecology and Culture (SANFEC), Sustainable Agriculture and Action Group (SAAG), South Asia Alliance for Poverty Eradication (SAAPE), Peoples’ Coalition on Food Sovereignty (PCFS), Pesticide Action Network-Asia Pacific (PAN-AP) and Founder of Green Rural Ecology, Economy Network-Green Pakistan.
